Weather Policies

School Closures and Delays:
In the event of severe weather that results in a school delay or closure, we will notify families via School Messenger, the district's social media accounts and website, and local TV stations. Please ensure your contact information is updated in PowerSchool to receive the School Messenger notifications.

Outdoor Recess Guidelines:
Students will continue to enjoy outdoor recess as long as the “feels-like” temperature (including wind chill) is above 20°F. Please ensure your child comes to school dressed appropriately for cold weather.

Cold Weather School Cancellations:
Many factors are considered when deciding to close or delay school, including road conditions, visibility, and overall safety. However, when cold temperatures are the primary concern, school will generally be considered for closure when the "feels-like" temperature drops below -20°F during key commute times.

We know how important it is for children to be in school where they can learn, grow, and connect with their peers. At the same time, the safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. We appreciate your understanding as we strive to make decisions that balance these priorities during the winter months.
