Welcome to the start of the 2024-2025 school year at Johnstown Middle School! As your principal, I want to say how thrilled I am to have you all here. I hope you're feeling refreshed and ready for a fantastic school year ahead.
Our teachers have been working hard to create amazing lessons that will make you think, get excited, and help you discover your talents. We are here to create a safe and supportive environment where you can learn, explore, and grow.
To our returning students, welcome back! We've missed your energy and unique perspectives. We can't wait to see how much you've grown and what new goals you'll set for yourself. Every new school year is a chance to start fresh and build on what you've already achieved.
And to our new students, welcome to our school family! We're excited to have you join us! It might feel a bit overwhelming at first, but don't worry—we've got your back. At JMS you will find awesome students and staff who will help you settle in and feel right at home.
Parents and guardians, we know how important you are in your child's education and we appreciate your partnership. We're here to support you and your kids, so please don't hesitate to reach out. Your involvement and support are crucial in creating a positive and successful school environment.
This year we are excited to offer our students new courses and opportunities to better prepare them with the career technical skills needed for our evolving workforce. New courses include Robotics, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math), Financial Literacy, and Career Connections.
We want to give a warm welcome to our new Dean of Students, Mrs. Fitz. She comes to us from Licking Valley Middle School where she previously served as a math teacher. She also has experience as a reading intervention provider and language arts instructor. In her previous district, she served on the Building Leadership Team (BLT) and the Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports (PBIS) team. We are excited for her to begin supporting our students and staff with her unique experience and skills. Additionally, we want to welcome to our staff Pre-Engineering Instructor Mr. Neater, and Intervention Specialists Ms. Edwards and Mr. Giardino.
As we start this new school year, let's focus on doing our best, treating each other with kindness, and embracing our differences. Let's challenge ourselves, grow as individuals, and keep that love for learning alive.
Stay tuned for updates, events, and ways you can get involved. The JMS website and PowerSchool start page will be updated regularly to ensure you are current with all important information. By visiting our website, you will have access to our bell schedule, traffic pattern, program of studies, supply lists, dress code, and much more. We will communicate through calls, newsletters, emails, and texts, so please make sure your child’s contact information has been reviewed and submitted and that we have updated academic, health, and guardianship records.
